Why does finding a partner in the U.S. feel so difficult?
I’ve been reflecting on something lately, and I’m curious if others feel the same.
I’m a software professional, doing fairly well in my career, financially stable, and settled here in the U.S. On paper, everything seems to be in place. But when it comes to finding a partner, it feels surprisingly difficult - almost impossible at times.
Back home, things seemed more straightforward. Here, despite meeting people, being in social settings, or even trying apps, it’s hard to find someone with the same wavelength, values, and long-term mindset. It’s not just about dating - it’s about finding a genuine connection that can lead to something meaningful.
Meanwhile, my parents keep suggesting the “simpler” route: move back to India, get married there, and settle down. And honestly, I understand where they’re coming from. But I’ve built a life here, and I genuinely like living here. Ideally, I’d want to meet someone organically - someone who understands this lifestyle and shares similar perspectives.
But right now, it feels like I’m stuck between two worlds - neither path seems easy.
Sometimes I wonder… is it just me, or are others going through the same struggle?
